Introduction

Chicken Shawarma Crepes are a flavorful fusion dish perfect for Iftar during Ramadan. This recipe combines juicy, spiced chicken shawarma with soft and thin crepes, creating a delicious wrap filled with grilled chicken, creamy garlic sauce, crunchy pickles, and fresh veggies. A perfect balance of savory, tangy, and creamy — ideal for your Ramadan dinner table!


Ingredients

For the Chicken Marinade

  • 160g (2/3 cup) Yogurt
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 tbsp Garlic powder or paste
  • 1 tsp Ginger powder or paste
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp Thyme
  • 1 tsp Dried parsley
  • 1 tsp Paprika powder
  • 1 tsp Salt (or to taste)
  • 750g Boneless chicken (cut into small pieces)

For the Crepe Batter

  • 500ml (2 cups) Milk
  • 500ml (2 cups) Water
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper powder
  • 1 Egg
  • 360g (3 cups) Flour

To Cook the Chicken

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tbsp Oil (extra)
  • 1 Small onion (sliced)
  • 3 Capsicums (red & green, sliced)

For the Shawarma Sauce

  • 125g (1/2 cup) Greek yogurt
  • 3 Garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Dried parsley
  • 2 tbsp Milk

Optional Toppings

  • Fresh tomatoes
  • Cucumbers
  • Lettuce
  • Pickles
  • Ketchup
  • Cheese

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken:
    Mix all marinade ingredients in a bowl. Add the chicken pieces and coat well. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour.

  2. Cook the Chicken:
    Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan. Add marinated chicken and cook until fully done. Add sliced onions and capsicums. Sauté together for a few minutes.

  3. Prepare the Crepes:
    Mix all crepe batter ingredients until smooth. Pour batter on a hot non-stick pan and cook both sides until light golden.

  4. Make the Sauce:
    Mix all the sauce ingredients in a bowl until smooth and creamy.

  5. Assemble the Crepes:
    Place a crepe on a plate. Add cooked chicken, veggies, and optional toppings. Drizzle with shawarma sauce. Fold or roll the crepe.

  6. Serve:
    Serve warm with ketchup or your favorite sauce.
